About me
Asako Yonan (she/they) is a PhD candidate in the Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies (IRES) department at the University of Oregon. Before attending UO, she received her Master’s Degree in Gender Studies from San Diego State University. She is an affiliate of the New Media and Culture graduate certificate program at UO, and her research coalesces around Asian/American visual culture, Japanese American incarceration, and the digital humanities. She is a former Artistic Director of Ahiru Daiko, the University of Oregon’s collegiate taiko group, and Director of the 2024 Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational.
