About me
Tiffany Tamaribuchi (all pronouns) is a trailblazer and world renowned respected teacher and performer. Widely recognized as one of the best instructors in the field, she has taught hundreds of classes and workshops worldwide and dedicated significant time and resources building bridges between artists and cultures in the global taiko community. Tiffany inspired the historic HERbeat concert, and is a featured artist in the documentary feature "Finding Her Beat."
Starting as Bon-daiko drummer with min'yo performers in Sacramento, she had the opportunity to experience Iyonokuni Suigun Daiko as a high school exchange student in Japan. She began initial training in SF Taiko Dojo and was a founding member of JODAIKO (1988), Sacramento Taiko Dan (1989), and Tozai Wadaiko (1990). Touring nationally and internationally with Taiko Dojo from 1990-1992, she was invited to tour with Za Ondekoza in 1993. Winner of the 2002 OTAIKO Hibike All Japan Odaiko Contest and finalist in the first Tokyo International Ippon-Uchi Odaiko Competition that same year, she gained notoriety as an Odaiko player despite having started as a yokomen-uchi soloist.
Her varied skill sets and personal teaching and performing style stem from over three decades of intense, diligent training and touring activities with a number of wadaiko artists throughout North America, Japan, and Europe.
Tiffany currently serves as the Artistic Director of Portland Taiko in Portland, Oregon,
