About me
Masa Miyano, full-time staff at Asano Taiko U.S. and Principal of Los Angeles Taiko Institute, brings over 15 years of taiko experience to the stage and classroom as a performer and educator with UnitOne, Prota, and TAIKOPROJECT Education Team.
Masa’s artistry is showcased in performances such as UnitOne’s 'SHIKI' concert, and Asano Taiko U.S.'s 10th Anniversary EXTASIA concert, as well as high-profile collaborations with artists such as MIYAVI and performances for Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai reception.
Teaching is at the heart of Masa’s practice, having led workshops at the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational 2023 and teaching both youth and adults at the Los Angeles Taiko Institute. Masa’s approach to taiko is rooted in the improvisational style of Hachijo Daiko, where individuality and instinct are central. He believes in guiding students to discover their own voice in taiko, encouraging them to feel the music as much as they perform it.
